LSC Center For Cybersecurity

The  LSC Center for Cybersecurity was established to provide a broad range of system security and information assurance services for local businesses and the community at large. The Center will provide students with real-world learning experiences in cybersecurity education through several business and government partnerships.  Lake Superior College offers a Network Administration and Cybersecurity A.A.S. degree that is available online or on campus.  We also have a transfer agreement with St Cloud State University for our students to transfer and complete their Bachelor’s degree on the SCSU campus.  We are part of a Cybercorps Scholarship For Service grant with St. Cloud State University and Century College.  Qualified students could be eligible for a Cybercorps scholarship that provides students who have reached their sophomore year with full tuition, travel money, funding for textbooks and a stipend of $22,500 per year.  Six of our students have already received these scholarships!

LSC has just started a partnership in Fall 2017 with SCSU to offer a four year degree B.A. IT Security degree in Duluth at the LSC campus. You can find more information about the grant and transfer program on our LSC/SCSU partnership page.

We are really excited to be offering students additional security classes so that they can receive an A.A.S. in Network Administration and Cybersecurity. The majority of freshman decided to change to this new planner before next year.  Incoming freshman will all be using this planner. The new classes that have been added to the planner are the following:

  • CIS 2811 Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems Fundamentals
  • CIS 2812 Network Security Fundamentals
  • CIS 2813 Network Forensics and Incident Response
  • CIS 2814 Ethical Hacking and Systems Defense

It’s going to be a lot of fun for all of us, because we love cybersecurity!
